End Plastic Soup

End Plastic Soup is a worldwide environmental movement launched in 2018 by four Rotary clubs in Amsterdam. It began with a bold, urgent vision:

By 2050, there should be no more plastic waste in our oceans, rivers, lakes, or on land.

Since then, the initiative has grown rapidly. Today, it is supported by more than 400 Rotary and Rotaract clubs in over 50 countries.

The movement brings together local projects and global collaboration to:

  • Reduce plastic waste through education and awareness
  • Organize cleanups in rivers, oceans, and cities
  • Encourage sustainable habits and innovation
  • Advocate for change at policy and community levels

Rotary International, one of the world’s largest volunteer networks with 1.4 million members, formally adopted the environment as a core area of focus in 2020 — further strengthening the impact of End Plastic Soup worldwide.
